Condition

Urinary tract infection (UTI)

Also known as: Peshab mein infection, burning urination

A urinary tract infection is an infection anywhere in the urinary system, most often the bladder. Most UTIs settle with the right antibiotic. Repeated infections, or infections in men, children or during pregnancy, should be looked into for an underlying cause.

Frequently asked questions

Should I take antibiotics left over from an earlier infection?

No. Antibiotics should be chosen for the current infection, ideally after a urine test. Leftover or incomplete courses can lead to resistant infections.
